Biography

Tahsin Mahin
Filmmaker | Writter | Editor | Colorist

I didn’t grow up dreaming of cinema — it found me. In the raw, unfiltered rhythms of city life, in the stories that no one bothers to tell. I was drawn to the kind of emotions that don’t need permission to be felt — the ones that shake you quietly.

I began my journey in storytelling as an Assistant Director at Nakshikatha Communication, working under Mahfuz Ahmed, one of Bangladesh’s most respected actor-directors. That’s where I learned that a film set isn’t just about action and cut — it’s about listening. It’s about knowing when silence can speak louder than any line of dialogue.

Later, I served as a Documentary News Editor at Jamuna Television, where I honed the skill of weaving truth into narrative — discovering how everyday moments can carry extraordinary weight.

My role as Chief Assistant Director in the feature film Adam gave me the opportunity to engage with filmmaking on a deeper scale — collaborating across departments, grounding every scene with purpose and authenticity.

But the edit table is where I truly found my voice. I’ve worked closely with renowned filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki as an Editor and Colorist on several of his projects, including:

  • 🎞️ Monogamy (A Chorki Original Film)

  • 📺 840 (Web series & Movie)

  • July Anirban — (A  Documentary about the July Revolutionist)

In 2025, I directed In Blissful Hell, a 13-minute documentary that explores a man’s unbreakable spirit amidst the cruelties of life. The film was officially selected at the Golden Femi Film Festival 2025, 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival, and received national press coverage in Bangladesh Pratidin. It was made on a budget of just $3,000, shot in the quiet corners of Dhaka — and it still lives in the hearts of those who saw it.

I also directed Sand of Dry Leaves which is under production now, a deeply psychological story of loss, womanhood, and healing, and contributed to Colors of Hope, a film that threads resilience through visual poetry.

My work as an editor, voice artist, and colorist extended to July Anirban, a powerful documentary that features not only my post-production work, but also my narration.

Whether I’m working on a fictional narrative or a social documentary, I carry the same belief — that films should bleed, breathe, and belong. They should tell the truth, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.

I create under the banner of Thought Box Films, where the goal is simple: tell real stories with heart, color, and honesty.
